Man appoints women

In the alternative investment sector that includes private equity and hedge funds, women make up a third of the workforce at junior level but only 14 per cent at senior level, according to Preqin data. The hedge fund Man Group has now appointed Robyn Grew as its first female CEO since the business was founded in the late 18th century. Anne Wade will take over as Man Group’s chair when John Cryan retires towards the end of this year. Research suggests funds run by women outperform those run by men even though it’s harder for women to raise capital from investors. There may be a connection: female hedgies must outperform to survive.
