So who really runs America? Ron DeSantis would like to, and he’s been trying to impress voters by confronting the Walt Disney Company on what he considers its over-enthusiastic embrace of LGBTQ+ rights. Three months ago, as governor, he leaned on Florida’s state assembly to take back control of the 25,000 acres on which Disneyland sits and which Disney governed like a county. It’s backfiring. Yesterday the company scrapped a $1 billion business development that would have brought 2,000 jobs to Orlando, and investments worth $17 billion more could be at risk. Should someone tell DeSantis there’s a reason (Disney’s) Modern Family ran for 11 seasons?
