A beastly week

A beastly week

It’s been Orange Sherbet vs the Beast in the High Court this week. Sherbet, aka David Sherborne, whose love of a sunbed earned him the nom-de-tribunal, represented Prince Harry while Andrew Green KC, who earned his reputation as a “beast in court” in the Legal 500, which describes his “punchy and aggressive court style”, argued for Mirror Group Newspapers. Harry met Sherborne, who also represented his mother, at Elton John’s south of France pad, and that conversation inspired this action. Between them, they’ve flipped a phone hacking case into a constitutional question with Harry arguing that the long-term cosy collaboration between the government, the press and the Royal family is worrying. “Democracy fails when your press fails to scrutinise and hold the government accountable, and instead choose to get into bed with them so they can ensure the status quo,” he told the court. The revolution starts here.
