Missing sub

Missing sub

A huge search and rescue operation is underway in the North Atlantic after a submersible craft carrying five people went missing on an expedition to view the wreck of the Titanic. The Titan sub lost contact with research vessel Polar Prince one hour and 45 minutes into the dive on Sunday morning about 900 miles east of Massachusetts’s Cape Cod, with Hamish Harding, a British billionaire businessman, Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood among those on board. The US coast guard said the occupants had between 70 to 96 hours of air as of 17:00 EST (22:00 BST). OceanGate Expeditions, which operates the vessel, has previously taken tourists $250,000 per person to view the Titanic, which sits about two miles below the ocean surface – with Stockton Rush, the company’s president, comparing the expeditions to space tourism
