As one parliamentary report is published, another one begins. MPs on the Treasury committee have reopened an inquiry into sexism and misogyny in the City after a number of sexual harassment allegations. It will also explore what role firms, the government and regulators like the Financial Conduct Authority should play in combating sexual harassment. In April the Guardian published allegations of sexual misconduct and a “toxic culture” at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI); Tortoise last year revealed allegations of sexual misconduct against City boss Crispin Odey. Odey’s firm is now being broken up; Odey denies wrongdoing. The committee is inviting anyone with experience working in the City to submit evidence by 1 September.
