Mother jailed after lockdown abortion is released

The man who won Thailand’s general election will not become prime minister. Pita Limjaroenrat’s Move Forward party won the most votes in May’s election, promising bold reforms that challenged the military and the monarchy. But on Wednesday the 42 year-old was first suspended from parliament by the country’s constitutional court, then blocked from holding a second parliamentary vote to secure office. “I would like to say goodbye until we meet again,” Pita said, raising his fist as he left the assembly floor. “The unelected dinosaurs have blocked progress in this country again,” one protester told The Times. Thailand’s parliament will hold another vote for prime minister next week.
