Last month Amazon previewed a “smarter and more conversational” version of Alexa, its popular voice assistant that has sold over half a billion devices worldwide. The new version is capable of more human-like conversation, adapting its tone to users’ cues. That doesn’t mean you can always trust what it says. It also said the 2020 races were “notorious for many incidents of irregularities and indications”, citing Substack, a newsletter subscription service. Amazon said the responses were “errors” that were “quickly fixed”.
