On Wednesday Damon Lindelof, a Hollywood screenwriter, called on his fellow Democrat donors to launch a “DEMbargo” on funding until Biden steps down, describing the president’s painful debate performance as “simply game-changing”.
He is one of several donors to make the threat: on Thursday, Abigail Disney, the heir to the Disney fortune, said she would also withhold donations while Biden remained the candidate.
Three Democratic congressmen have also now publicly called for Biden to step aside.
Biden, for now, is holding firm, with his team counting on an interview tonight with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos to calm nerves. The network has promised to air the interview in full, and unedited.
